Porcelain veneers are the most conservative esthetic restorations available in dentistry today. A thin layer of the front of the tooth is removed to allow a veneer of porcelain to be bonded to the tooth without making it any thicker. Similar to a false fingernail, the veneer covers dark or yellow teeth, fills unsightly gaps, lengthens short or stubby teeth, straightens crooked teeth, and in general creates a more attractive smile. Unlike a false fingernail, however, veneers are more permanent. The veneers are attached to the teeth using the most advanced methods of bonding principles.
Modern dental technology can reshape uneven teeth and veneer them with high-tech ceramic. The result will give the appearance and function of a symmetrical smile. The effectiveness of this approach can depend on how crooked and crowded the teeth are to begin with. What we can do is absolutely amazing. For many adults this option is better than traditional orthodontics, and treatments can be complete in as little as two visits.
A Smile Design is truly a work of art. The term Smile Design applies to the enhancement of a smile using a combination of methods. A client's eyes, lip line, coloring, gum tissue contouring, and face, are all considered when a new smile is designed for you. Our goal is to redesign your smile so that it fits you, is beautiful, strong, and natural looking.
With a technique called bonding, your dentist can repair damaged areas by applying a "paste" made of a material called composite resin. The resin comes in a wide variety of shades. It hardens almost instantly when it's exposed to a special ultraviolet light. This resin can be sanded, smoothed and buffed until it exactly matches the tooth's shine.
The best use for bonding is to repair slightly chipped, discolored, or misaligned teeth. Bonding involves placing tooth colored composite material onto the tooth. The advantages of bonding is that it is inexpensive and an ultra-conservative way to restore a tooth.
Composites, if placed with exacting technique (rubber dam isolation and modern bonding agents), get closer than ever before to restoring the tooth to its original strength, in the most conservative fashion. The composites are a very hard "plastic" that bonds (micromechanically fused) to the tooth to hold the tooth together. Amalgams have multiple disadvantages. Amalgam is a metal that expands and contracts temperature and biting. Therefore, with every meal the teeth are being weakened and over time, depending on the size of the filling, the tooth becomes susceptible to fracturing. Amalgam also contains mercury which is a very toxic element.
Crowns are a type of dental restoration which, when cemented into place, fully cup over the portion of a tooth that lies at and above the gum line. Crowns encase the entire visible aspect of a tooth. A dental crown, in effect, becomes the tooth's new outer surface.
A Bridge is a custom device anchored to neighboring teeth that replaces one or more missing teeth. When a lost tooth is replaced with bridgework, the teeth on either side of the missing one are prepared as crowns to serve as abutments to hold the prosthetic (replacement) tooth in place. Crowns and bridges are most commonly prepared from high quality materials such as semiprecious or precious metals, porcelain, or a fused combination of the two. Aesthetics, function, and tissue compatibility are considered when selecting the material most suitable for you.
Full Mouth restoration involves restoring the teeth, bite, and muscles back to a natural looking and youthful feeling condition. Using computerized technology and an artistic eye, full mouth restoration may be the answer to many problems, such as heat-sensitive teeth, sore jaw muscles, and recurring headaches. Using computerized technology and an artistic eye, full mouth restoration may be the answer to many of these problems.
People with stained or discolored teeth may just need a whitening procedure in order to restore their smile. Teeth Whitening is a safe and effective way to brighten stained, discolored or dull teeth. Even a stubborn single tooth that is noticeably duller or less white than your other teeth can be individually brightened. Teeth bleaching products, which contain peroxides, actually change your natural tooth color anywhere from five to seven -- even up to twelve -- shades brighter. You too can have the white smile you have always dreamed about!
"Gummy smiles" are a very common problem, caused by overgrowth of the gum tissue that then covers the teeth. This unsightly occurrence can be caused by a variety of things, including heredity and health conditions. A gummy smile will dominate the mouth, making the teeth seem almost secondary in appearance.
We use a laser to change the look and shape of the gums. The laser actually vaporizes unnecessary and unsightly tissue, leaving healthy, normal looking gums in place. The Laser is unmatched in its accuracy and effectiveness. The process takes only a few minutes for most, and there is usually very little discomfort.
Implants completely simulate a natural tooth. Implants involve a surgical procedure that replaces missing teeth. A titanium cylinder secured in the bone functions as the root of your tooth. Then a crown attached to the titanium cylinder gives the appearance of a natural tooth. A dental implant is a replacement for the root of your missing tooth. Implants are often the first choice when replacing missing back teeth because of the strength and natural appearance.
